Around the time I was 20, I had worked as a big-ticket salesperson in a department store. A big-ticket item is a good that has a high selling price. I was reluctant to sell fridges, ovens, and similar things, but was pushed into the position to cover scheduling gaps (and my boss wanted to cover her ass). I didn’t enjoy the experience, but I did take note of the income potential linked to selling big-ticket items.
In the online world, “big-ticket” is used interchangeably with “high-ticket.” High-ticket refers to products and services that cost hundreds to thousands of dollars, and these fees are usually billed monthly or annually. For example, some training programs and online courses cost more than $1,000 annually, as you’ll see.
Many, if not most, affiliate programs consist of low to mid-cost goods and services. However, high-ticket affiliate marketing programs do exist and usually pay high commissions because of the effort it takes to convert sales. For example, Shopify pays $2,000 for each Shopify Plus referral.
